Letters from the Dead is a series of ceremonies that connect people from different places to mourn the loved ones they have lost due to violence. These ceremonies help make the dead visible so they wont be forgotten. Communities come together to commemorate the dead in public so they can question the colonial past and global order that has created unimaginable wealth for few while deeming others disposable.
We have created street performances in Kingston, Jamaica as well as Toronto, Canada. The Letters from the Dead series also includes a stage play called A Vigil for Roxie, which has been performed in Colombia, UK and most recently in Geneva, New York with excerpts presented in Rochester, New York.
